Khaki field boots : Australian Army
Description
Pair of mid calf khaki green general purpose (GP) army issue field boots. The boots have an integral tongue, ten pairs of green metal eyelets, khaki cotton laces, rubber soles, but no toe cap. The soles are marked 'MADE IN AUSTRALIA 6B'. A white cotton tag printed in black, sewn inside the top of each boot reads 'OLIVER [broad arrow symbol] FINAL INSPECTION B'.
History / Summary
This pattern boot was worn in the Australian Army c 1994-1999. While the pattern of the boot itself was satisfactory, the colour, often described as 'poo green', was generally disliked by the wearers. Men often attempted to darken it using a variety of products.
By 2000 a slightly different pattern of boot had been adopted in a tan suede finish.
