Pair of identity discs : Sapper A G Dix, 2/13 Field Company, Royal Australian Engineers
Description
Pair of aluminium identification tags, one circular, one octagonal, each provided with a suspension hole. A patent split ring joins each to the accompanying fine-link chain necklace; the circular tag is attached to a short length of chain, itself then secured to the main chain. Each tag is engraved on the obverse 'V.X. 108877 Dix, A.G. Meth' and 'A2' on the reverse.
History / Summary
Related to the service of VX108877 Sapper Allan George Dix, born Carlton, Victoria on 15 January 1917. Dix enlisted on 27 September 1942 and served with 2/13 Field Company, Royal Australian Engineers until he was discharged on 4 June 1946. This unit was notable for clearing the beach obstacles at Tarakan prior to the landings by Australian forces.
