Ross Mark III Rifle : German Army (captured)
Description
Canadian Ross Mark III bolt action rifle. Receiver marked ROSS RIFLE CO. CANADA M10 PATENTED over a crossed flags proof mark. The butt is stamped with the Quebec arsenal mark, III and the serial number over 1915. The rifle is complete with a brown leather sling marked 15th BTY CFA.
History / Summary
This rifle was possibly originally issued to the 15th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery. It was captured from the Germans at The Windmill, near Pozieres, in August 1916 by 48 Battalion AIF.
