Walking stick: General Sir Joseph John Talbot Hobbs, AIF
Description
Cane walking stick with a shrapnel ball at the end of the handle. A copper collar is attached around three quarters of the way up the handle.
History / Summary
This cane walking stick was purchased by General Talbot in Cairo and used on Gallipoli and the Western Front. The shrapnel ball had lodged in his boot at Pozieres in July 1916 and the copper collar from a shell driving band came from Ypres, September 1916.
