Description
The flag is constructed from two triangular panels of cotton fabric. The top panel is black cotton sateen the lower red plain weave. The panels are joined along the centre with a French seam. Both long sides of the triangle have rolled and hems stitched with black construction thread.
History / Summary
This flag was carried by the 5th Battalion in France. From March 1917 onwards it was mounted on a lance taken from a German Uhlan (Cavalryman) killed near Lagnicourt.
