Militia Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. The recipient's number, rank, name and unit are impressed on the edge. The medal is an oval shape with a fixed top ring suspender. Obverse: The bust of King Edward VII in uniform facing left, with the legend, 'EDWARDVS VII REX IMPERATOR' around the top circumference. Reverse: The words 'MILITIA FOR LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT'. A piece of 32 mm light blue ribbon (part faded) is threaded through the ring suspender.

Awarded to Gunner R Casey of the Duke of Edinburgh's Own Edinburgh Royal Garrison Artillery Militia for completing 18 years service and attending 15 annual camps during this period. The unit was operational as garrison militia between 1902 and 1908 with its headquarters in Glasgow. Originally the City of Edinburgh Artillery founded in 1853 it became the Duke of Edinburgh's Own Edinburgh Artillery in 1876. It was disbanded in 1909. This medal is part of a collection assembled by the late Hon. Sir Thomas Hughes, Member of the Legislative Council of New South Wales. It was presented to the Memorial in memory of his son, Captain Roger Forrest Hughes, Australian Army Medical Corps, who died of wounds in France on 11 December 1916, and of his grandson, Flying Officer Peter Roger Forrest Hughes, 12 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force, who was killed on active service while flying in the Northern Territory on 3 October 1942.
