Description

Percival J Fogarty, member of 22nd Infantry Battalion AIF, and later the 5th Pioneer Battalion, France 1916-1918, interviewed by Dr Alistair Thomson. Percy discusses early life growing up in a single parent family in rural Victoria, enlisting in 1915, and serving on the Western Front in 22nd Battalion and 5th Pioneer Battalion. After many different post-war jobs he eventually settled at labouring work in a flour mill in Kensington, where he remained until retirement. He also signed up for ‘home duties’ during WW2, being 'too old' to go to war again, and was active in veterans groups such as the Pioneers’ Unit Association, and the Sailors Soldiers and Airmens' Fathers Association of Victoria.
