Daly speaks of his service background and experience, as well as training; his appointment to command 28th British Commonwealth Brigade; the operational environment in Korea; command relationships and administrative matters; the planning and execution of company and battalion operations; the effects of the weather, enemy harassing fire, patrolling commitments and casualties on units; the combat-effectiveness of the Chinese infantry; the Chinese Army's lack of commitment to the terms of the Geneva Convention; the British Commonwealth and United States Army policies regarding patrolling; the intelligence available for the planning of operations; United Nations Command (UNC) use of minefields in maintaining defensive positions; the administrative problems caused by individual leave breaks and brigade and battalion rest periods; leadership and morale within 28th Brigade; his view of the allocation of honours and awards to the Australian component of the Division.
