Description

An unknown presenter at the Britcom Broadcasting Station introduces the occasion before playing back a recording of Lieutenant General Bierwirth addressing BCFK troops on parade at ANZAC Park, Kure Japan. Lieutenant General Bierwirth made the address after the inspection and march past of the troops at a parade held to celebrate the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.

In his speech he pays tribute to the efforts of all the troops represented in the United Nations forces in Korea and especially mentions the Japanese personnel working with the Commonwealth Forces. Bierwirth announces that he will retire from his position of Commander in Chief on 1 July 1956 and shortly thereafter will return to Australia.
