Germany. 1943-03. The south-eastern end of the storage lake of the Eder Dam with the dam breached after being attacked by RAF bomber aircraft on the night of 1943-03-16. The RAAF was well represented among the crews of the Lancaster bombers of No. 617 Squadron which took part in the raids on the German dams, and their contribution to this highly successful operation was recognised by the following awards: DSO to 407729 Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) D.
