SUPERFICIALLY THE LANCASTER AND THE HALIFAX WERE ALIKE, THE HALIFAX MARK III HAD BRISTOL HERCULES RADIAL ENGINES INSTEAD OF ROLLS ROYCE MERLINS; A FOUR GUN MID-UPPER TURRET INSTEAD OF A TWO GUN; AND THE HALIFAX DID NOT CARRY A NOSE TURRET. IN ALL-ROUND PERFORMANCE THE LANCASTER WAS SUPERIOR TO THE HALIFAX.
