Sussex, England. 1945-04-14. Two popular and experienced commanding officers of the wing, which includes No. 451 and No. 453 Squadrons RAAF at RAF Station Matlaske, 405473 Squadron Leader E. A. R. Esau DFC, of Brisbane, Qld, left, (one of the wing's squadron commanders), led the first Spitfire bomber attack on V2 targets and with 404795 Wing Commander Donald George Andrews DFC, of Southport, Qld (in flying kit), he led the last aerial attacks on the rocket sites. Note the Australian flag on the tailplane between them.
