Description

Major Richard Gorman, left, the Deputy Assistant Provost Marshal for Vietnam, from Clovelly, NSW, puts in a bid for one of the items at an auction sale of goods by the Australian Force Vietnam Provost Unit in the 1st Australian Logistics Support Group Base. The auction was a clearance sale of unclaimed, found, recovered, lost, and left behind goods by Australian soldiers in Vietnam. It was the first time Australians had held a clearance sale, so some of the goods dated back to the early years of the war. They included a transistor radio, cameras, watches and cigarette lighters. At the rostrum, the auctioneer, Captain J A Collin, second in charge (2IC) of the Unit, from Holsworthy, NSW, stirs up business by looking for another bid.
