Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. July 1970. Armed with an M16 rifle and searching a Vietnamese sampan for possible enemy supplies, is Corporal Joe Braumberger of Townsville, Qld, a member of 2RAR /NZ (ANZAC) (The ANZAC Battalion comprising 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and a component from the 1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment). Assault Pioneer Platoon, 2RAR, together with engineers from the 1st Field Squadron, used outboard-powered aluminium assault craft to patrol some of the miles of waterways and mangrove swamps which form the western coast.
