Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. July 1970. Three members of 2RAR /NZ (ANZAC) (The ANZAC Battalion comprising 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and a component from the 1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment), keep a sharp watch as their outboard-powered aluminium assault craft moves up a river. Assault Pioneer Platoon, 2RAR, together with engineers from the 1st Field Squadron, patrolled in the Rung Sat, the vast tangle of waterways and mangrove swamps which form the western coastline. The area has long been used by the Viet Cong to infiltrate food and supplies. Left to right, are: Private (Pte) Colin McDonald of Mackay, Qld; Pte David House of Gumdale, Qld; Corporal Joe Braumberger of Townsville, Qld. Second from left is a Vietnamese National Policeman.
