Sunday film screening series, BAE Systems Theatre

To complement Remember me: the lost diggers of Vignacourt and its unique images of Australians on the Western Front, the Australian War Memorial presents a series of classic films that all present distinct visions of the First World War. This is a great opportunity to see them on the ‘big’ screen.

Details: All screenings start at 2.00 pm, are free and will be accompanied by a short introduction and insight into the film. Bookings are not required.

Visit the Memorial cafés, the Terrace or The Landing Place, before the film screenings for breakfast or lunch, or finish your day there for afternoon tea. Present this voucher  (163Kb PDF file) to receive a 10% discount on your next purchase.

Sunday 24th February – A Very Long Engagement (2004)

Dir: Jean-Pierre Jenuet, 133 min
Rated: MA, children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult
Bringing the distinct visual style and almost magic realism of Amelie to the Western Front, this film is equal parts beautiful and brutal. Following the story of Mathilde as she looks for her lost love in the fragmented stories and lives left in the aftermath of the Great War, this movie takes its audience on a bittersweet and moving journey.
