Shared Experience: Airmen In A Village Pub Yorkshire
Art and War
Airmen are depicted off-duty in a British country bar. The airman on the left, resting his head on his arm, is said to be Brittain. The artist, a bomb aimer himself, identified with his comrades’ need for relaxation as an antidote to the relentless, stressful, and often distressing experience of service in Bomber Command.
