Shared Experience: Submarine Pens At Brest
Forster’s war art is very often based on photographs. On assignment for the war art program, he routinely took numerous photographs, and he sketched as well. Large works on paper were subsequently completed in his London studio. His compositions show the influence of British official war artists Graham Sutherland and John Piper.
