Join art curators Erin Vink and Toni Bailey during NAIDOC week to discuss Daniel Boyd (Kudjala/Gangalu/Kuku-Yalanji/Waka Waka/Gubbi Gubbi/Wangerriburra/Bandjalung) and Edition Office architects’ sculpture For our Country. Recently dedicated in the Memorial’s Sculpture Gardens, For our Country recognises and commemorates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander military service.

Subs in Sydney and shells on the steelworks

The naval attacks on Sydney and Newcastle in mid-1942 were among the most southern military strikes from the Japanese during the Second World War. This presentation will examine these two cities and their experiences of the attacks. Several rarely seen objects relating to the raids will be brought to the presentation.
