Applications for 2019 Work Experience are now closed.
Applications for 2020 Work Experience placements will reopen in late January 2020.
The Australian War Memorial offers a very limited number of work experience placements each year.
To be eligible, students must be in Years 10, 11 or 12 and be participating in a school-sponsored work experience program.
The program is for a 5 day duration, where the student will be placed with a number of Sections in the Memorial for a half or full day. They will be shown some behind the scenes activities and front of house experiences, and learn how such a unique and iconic institution has many differing roles and careers available.
The program is especially applicable to students who have an interest in history, specifically military history, and may be considering a career in the cultural sector.
Please note, submitting an application does not guarantee a placement.
Applications will not be acknowledged on receipt. If a placement can be offered, the student and their Work Experience Coordinator will be advised within 4 weeks.
Due to certain Memorial work area requirements, some placements may require the student to supply and wear protective clothing such as long pants or closed in shoes.
Only those who can be offered a placement will receive further advice from the Memorial. To those not offered a placement, we extend our thanks for your interest in the Australian War Memorial.
