  6. Thousands attend Anzac Day 2018 National Ceremony

    Dr Brendan Nelson, Director of the Australian War Memorial, today said he was proud to see the large crowd attend today’s Anzac Day National Ceremony.

    “An estimated 11,500 people attended the National Ceremony and veterans’ march, bringing the total number of people at both Anzac Day ceremonies at the Australian War Memorial to 49,500,” Dr Nelson said.

     

  7. Strong crowd numbers for Anzac Day Dawn Service

    An estimated crowd of about 38,000 visitors gathered this morning at the Australian War Memorial for the 2018 Anzac Day Dawn Service.  

    Memorial Director Dr Brendan Nelson, said he was proud of the continuing commitment and dedication of everyday Australians to the annual commemoration of Anzac Day.

  8. Memorial to welcome RF-111C aircraft into National Collection

    The Australian War Memorial can confirm a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) RF-111C aircraft currently at the South Australian Aviation Museum will be transferred to the Memorial’s collection.

    Director of the Australian War Memorial Dr Brendan Nelson joined in with tributes to the former Memorial Council Member the Honourable Jocelyn Newman AO, who passed away last weekend at the age of 80, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
