    An estimated crowd of about 38,000 visitors gathered this morning at the Australian War Memorial for the 2018 Anzac Day Dawn Service.  

    Memorial Director Dr Brendan Nelson, said he was proud of the continuing commitment and dedication of everyday Australians to the annual commemoration of Anzac Day.

  2. Memorial to welcome RF-111C aircraft into National Collection

    The Australian War Memorial can confirm a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) RF-111C aircraft currently at the South Australian Aviation Museum will be transferred to the Memorial’s collection.

  5. Inaugural Napier Waller Art Prize for Defence artists officially launched

    The Australian War Memorial, in partnership with Thales Australia and with support from the University of Canberra, today launched the inaugural Napier Waller Art Prize, the first ever national art prize offered exclusively to Defence personnel.

    The $10,000 prize is open to all current and former Defence personnel. It aims to promote the healing potential of art for servicemen and servicewomen and to raise a broader awareness of the military experience and the impact of service on the individual.
