Content and talent for the Western Front centenary
Today, marks 100 years since the battle of the Somme was launched on the Western Front and to commemorate this anniversary the Australian War Memorial will hold a Last Post Ceremony this evening.

Australian War Memorial deepens its acknowledgement of the enduring impact of war and military operations on individuals and the nation
Two significant new plaques have been added to the Australian War Memorial’s Commemorative Area.
The first commemorates the sacrifice of Australians who have died in training exercises, while the second recognises the trauma experienced by those who have been wounded, either physically or psychologically, during the course of their service.

The Australian War Memorial will mark the 50th anniversary of the battle of Long Tan and Vietnam Veterans’ Day in August with a number of moving tributes honouring the 60,000 Australian men and women who served our nation throughout the Vietnam War.
