Welcome to the Australia War Memorial's media centre. This site provides resources and information for news media and documentary crews researching stories or seeking to film or photograph on-site at the Memorial; including access to media releases, feature stories and details on requesting images and footage.

The media centre provides newsworthy content direct from the Memorial as we move through significant anniversaries, including the Centenary of the First World War. This includes professionally written feature stories by a dedicated in-house journalist with more than 20 years’ experience in the media. This free content can be found on the Memorial blog page and can be used on public platforms with appropriate attribution.

To find out what events are planned at the Memorial see the “Visit” tab at the top of the page. Keep up to date with news on the Memorial blog or follow us on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and Instagram.

It is important to note that the Memorial should not be used as a backdrop to lobby, provide political comment or to imply approval of products. The Memorial is a place of commemoration for all Australians, and as such, visitors should not be inconvenienced.

The Commemorative Area is the sacrosanct heart of the Memorial. Out of respect and to maintain the dignity of the space, the Memorial does not permit media calls, interviews or pieces-to-camera taking place in this area.

Media seeking to operate on-site at the Memorial (including on the exterior) should make contact with the Communications and Marketing (CAM) team to seek permission prior to arriving. Any media entering the building should be accompanied by a CAM staff member while inside.

Talks and speeches - Transcripts of talks and speeches held at the Australian War Memorial or by Memorial staff are available online.
