This portrait is an homage to my brother, Liam. His life has been devoted to his art. The cello is not simply an instrument to him. It is an extension of his being and a vessel for his expression and creativity.
I have always admired the quiet intensity that surrounds him when he plays. This portrait captures a moment of transformation: the moment before he plays his first note, when his easy, conversational warmth gives way to a profound focus. In that silence, he becomes composed, deliberate, and wholly present in the world of his music.
