Enlisting in the Royal Australian Navy at a mature age was like a whirlwind of pride and excitement, and a true test of adaptation. Not knowing what your day would require of you was both thrilling and apprehensive. This painting is from a photo I took en route to my ship. The calm sea and beautiful sunrise gave me a deep sense of peace and grounding and reminded me that we are all in the same boat.
