How to have your say
Following an initial referral under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) in November 2019, the Memorial’s development project was declared a ‘controlled action’ requiring an assessment decision under the EPBC Act.
A second public consultation phase is now taking place, focused on the environmental and heritage impacts of our plans. This second consultation phase opens on Friday 3 July 2020 and closes at 5:00pm AEST on Friday 31 July 2020.
View the EPBC consultation public notice below:
The Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment has advised the project will be assessed by preliminary documentation, which is available to view below. The preliminary documentation describes the impact and proposed mitigation measures for the Memorial’s heritage values and actions as a Commonwealth agency.
Physical copies of the preliminary documentation can also be viewed from 3 – 31 July 2020 at various locations at the Memorial and around Canberra including:
- ACT Planning and Land Authority, Ground Floor South, Dame Pattie Menzies House, 16 Challis Street, Dickson ACT
- ACT Libraries, Civic Library, Civic Square, London Circuit, Canberra City
- Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, John Gorton Building, King Edward Terrace, Parkes ACT 2600.
People with special needs (i.e. for whom English is a second language or who have vision impairment) or who require assistance to access the documents, should contact the Memorial on (02) 6243 4211.
