Private Herbert Raymond Axtens

Private Axtens embarked from Sydney with reinforcements for 12 Light Horse Regiment 2 October 1915. He was taken on strength by 12 Light Horse 22 February 1916 in Heliopolis. He was transferred to 8th Brigade Machine Gun Company 5 April 1916. Private Axtens arrived in France from Egypt in June 1916 and spent several weeks in hospital with influenza September-October 1916. He rejoined the Machine Gun Company at the beginning of November 1916 and remained with this unit until the end of the war.
