Sergeant Smith (left), 2/48th Battalion, putting the cross on the grave of SX7964 Lieutenant (Lt) Thomas Currie 'Diver' Derrick, VC, DCM, in the 2/48 Battalion cemetery off the Anzac Highway. He is watched by SX7670 Private C R Aplin (right), also of the 2/48th Battalion. Lt Derrick died of wounds on 24 May 1945.
