Public Interest Disclosure
The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 (PID Act) commenced on 15 January 2014 and establishes a new legislative scheme for the investigation of allegations of serious wrongdoing in the Commonwealth public sector.
To ensure compliance with the requirements of the PID Act, the Australian War Memorial has developed procedures for facilitating and dealing with public interest disclosures, including the appointment of authorised officers who can receive a disclosure of information.
A PID can be made to an authorised officer of the Australian War Memorial if the PID relates to the Australian War Memorial or the discloser belongs or last belonged to the Memorial. The discloser must be a current or former ‘public official’, as defined in s.69 of the PID Act. This definition includes individuals or organisations that provide goods or services under a Commonwealth contract.
A PID can be made to the Australian War Memorial via the following email address – PIDDisclosures@awm.gov.au
