Vietnam War Medallion 1962 - 1972
Produced to commemorate the service and sacrifice of the Australians who served in Vietnam between 1962 and 1972.
Australia’s military involvement in the Vietnam War was the longest in duration of any war in the country’s history. It lasted from August 1962 until May 1975. The Australian commitment consisted predominantly of Army personnel, but significant numbers of Air Force and Navy personnel and some civilians also took part. According to the Nominal Roll of Australian Vietnam Veterans, almost 60,000 Australians served in Vietnam, whilst 521 Australians lost their lives.
From the ANZAC Day Commemoration Committee of Queensland, who use money raised from this medallion for Veteran welfare, ANZAC educational projects, the preservation of war memorabilia and the construction and refurbishment of war memorials and honour boards. The brass coloured medallion measures 4cm in diameter and comes with a presentation pouch and information card.
