Digger Rd replica signboard
Exclusive to the Australian War Memorial.
In the constantly changing maze of trenches on the Western Front, signboards were essential for navigation. Some were beautifully painted, presumably by soldiers who had been professional sign writers. Others exhibited characteristic Digger humour. The signs were a typically Aussie way of claiming the trenches as their own.
Perfect for the study or pool room, this souvenir metal sign is a replica of a signboard from the Memorial's Collection (RELAWM00975) and measures 40 x 11 cm.
