The 54th Battalion was formed in Egypt in February 1916. It’s men represented most regions of NSW. The battalion had a premature and disastrous start at Fromelles in July 1916. For the next two years they endured the horrific rigours of trench warfare and European winters. They took part in battles at Bullecourt, Polygon Wood, Villers-Bretonneux and Peronne, where they earned two Victoria Crosses. Hard cover, photographs, 454 pages.
