Lost: ships of the RAN
Lost has been written to shed some light on the little known history of Australia’s Senior Service. It chronicles each of the 45 ships lost by the Royal Australian Navy, and gives the background history of each ship. It looks at the strategic situation that existed at the time, describes the action in which the ship was lost and finishes with a summation of what happened to survivors.
From the loss in 1914 of AE1, Australia’s first submarine, to the loss of the patrol boat HMAS Arrow in 1974, the book looks at all of the losses incurred by the RAN in peace and in war.
