Max Emery

The story of the 8th Light Horse Regiment Australian Imperial Force 1914 - 1919. Max Emery whose great uncle served in the 8th Light Horse and lost his life in Palestine, has written this history of the famous regiment. He traces it back to its beginnings at Broadmeadows, the voyage to Egypt and subsequent training and arrival at Gallipoli in May 1915. The story of the futile charge at the Nek and other incidents relating to the Gallipoli campaign are recounted. Emery then continues back to Egypt, through the Sinai, to Palestine and Syria, and includes the battles of Magdhaba, Gaza, and Beersheba, and the capture of Jerusalem and Damascus.
