Kapyong: Korea 1951 DVD

Directed by Dennis K. Smith

The 1951 Battle of Kapyong is one of the most significant battles in Australia’s military history. China’s Fifth Offensive during the Korean War was intended to finally drive the Australian, New Zealand and Canadian troops out of South Korea by way of securing the strategic Kapyong valley. A small band of brave Australians, New Zealanders and Canadians took up arms to participate in the battle, one of the single greatest success stories of the war. The success of this battle directly affected the outcome in Korea, and is considered a crucial turning point of the Cold War.  Thoroughly researched, the remarkable achievement is documented in this DVD through dramatic reconstruction featuring archival imagery, maps and reflections of veterans from both sides of the all-but-forgotten conflict.

Rated MA 15+ (Strong war violence), PAL, All regions, English subtitles, duration 53 minutes.
