This first-hand account by Squadron Leader Sarah-Jane Leech tells the remarkable story of a young woman who became a pilot. A key moment comes as she is landing a Hercules at Tarin Kowt in Afghanistan. Firing starts beside the runway, and the author, age 27, finds herself thinking she wished that the captain would take over the controls … and then realises she is the captain.
