Smith, Harold Edward Benjamin (2nd Lieutenant, 19th Bn. b.1891 - d.1917)
Description
This collection comprises 2 original handwritten diaries belonging to 2nd Lt Harold Edward Benjamin Smith covering his service in Egypt and France, 9 original handwritten letters from Smith to his mother, father and sister, an official letter from the records office after his death, his commissioning warrant, commemorative scroll, and a letter from the King. Smith served with the 19th Battalion, AIF until he was killed in action on 8 October 1917.
