Description
Collection relating to the service of 289 Corporal Clarence Rupert Roberts, 8 Battalion, AIF, Egypt, Gallipoli, 1914-1915. Collection consists of a typescript copy of selected extracts from a diary kept by Corporal Roberts during his active service. The extracts deal with the period from 8 December 1914 to July 1915.
History / Summary
Biographical note: 289 Corporal Clarence Rupert Roberts, 8 Battalion AIF, who, on 13 August 1915, died at Malta of wounds received at Lone Pine, Gallipoli. Other biographical details concerning him are: draughtsman; of Ballarat, Victoria; born Mount Egerton, Victoria, 1894; educated at Pleasant Street State School, Ballarat; joined the AIF on 18 August 1914.
