Collection relating to the First World War service of 1094 Private George Henry Davies who served with D Company, 36 Battalion. Collection consists of a typed memoir titled "The Story of my Doings, Thoughts, Spiritual Desires, during the period of the Great War, 1914-1917"; some typed fragments of a diary, 21 January to 22 November 1916; two original letters written home; and typed copies of condolence letters sent to his mother. The memoir covers training, and service on the Western Front including a description of the Messines offensive in which he was later killed on 12 July 1917.
