Murray, Ernest (Sergeant, b.1881 - d.1935)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 151 Sergeant Ernest Murray, 1st and 14th Field Company Engineers. Collection consists of typed extract (prepared by AWM) of diaries kept by Sgt Murray, and covers the period 27 September 1914 to 16 October 1918. Murray was one of the first to land at Gallipoli and remained there for the whole period, he later served in France and Belgium. He was awarded the Military Medal and a bar for his bravery during the operations of 25-26th Sept. 1917 at Polygon Wood, France. The six original diaries are held by the State Library of NSW as MLMSS 2892.
