Matron Evelyn Conyers
Description
Depicts a portrait of Matron in Chief Evelyn Augusta Conyers, CBE, RRC and Bar, FNM (Florence Nightingale Medal), AANS, who joined the Australian Imperial Force as a senior nursing sister in 1914 and sailed overseas with the first contingent. In 1915 she became Matron-in-Chief of the Australian Army Nursing Service, an appointment she held until the end of the war. She was appointed a CBE, made member of the Royal Red Cross and awarded the Florence Nightingale Medal for her services to nursing.
