Description
An M113A1 fitters vehicle (centre with crane boom) from the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME) light aid detachment, delivering a vital piece of machinery to a Centurion Mk V/I tank (left). The tank, from B Squadron, 1st Armoured Regiment, is part of a protection force for Australian engineers who are clearing the foothills of the Long Hai mountains in southern Phuoc Tuy province. In seven weeks, 1st Field Squadron Engineers cleared about 2,000 acres which will make it harder for the Viet Cong (VC) to reach the nearby populated areas. Note the International F6 6x6 truck (right) being used as an improvised refueling vehicle with a rubber fuel bladder in the back.
