Description

The armoured cruiser HMS Hampshire, one of the battleships that escorted the first Australian convoy. She joined the convoy in the Indian Ocean c 10 November 1914, and remained with them until they reached the Suez. The Hampshire is famous for her association with the death of Field Marshal Lord Kitchener, when she was torpedoed and sunk in the North Sea in June 1916.
