Front row: three men unidentified. Pte Morris was a journalist and member of the Australian Literature Society. Prior to his service at Gallipoli, he organised poetry nights in camp in Egypt. He wrote poems which he sent to family members in Australia and to British and Australian newspapers. Morris also took an interest in the poetry written by fellow soldiers. (See also C03612)
