History / Summary
Awarded to 4653 Private Walter James Douglas. Douglas was born at Brighthampton, Oxfordshire, in England in June 1881. He served during the South African War with the 17th Lancers and emigrated to Australia before 1913, when he married an Australian woman. He died in 1953.
