Description
British First World War recruitment poster. Prior to 1916, the British government relied on voluntary registration for military service. The Military Service Act was introduced in January 1916 as a means of meeting the demand for recruitments. It specified that unmarried men (unless widowed with children) between 18 to 41 years of age coul d be called up for service.
