Studio portrait of 486 Private (Pte) John Harold Boughton, B Company, 19th Battalion, of Tamworth, NSW. Pte Boughton enlisted on 7 March 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ceramic on 25 June 1915. He died of dysentery on 24 October 1915, aged 24 years. He is buried at Egypt 9 Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt. This lantern slide is one of a series of images of soldiers from the district who enlisted and served overseas. The slides were probably displayed at the Tamworth Cinema between features. Some of the slides have been annotated with information about the person pictured.
