Royal Australian Air Force officer cadet's sports blazer : Cadet J A H Dillon, RAAF
Unlined blue woollen sports blazer with a fold down collar and wide lapels. The blazer has three black plastic buttons at the front and two patch pockets at the waist. A patch pocket in a slightly different shade of blue is sewn on the left breast and is embroidered with a RAAF badge dating from 1921-1937. The badge shows a silk embroidery thread wattle wreath surmounted by a gold bullion wire King’s crown. Within the wreath is a gold bullion wire eagle, the stars of the Southern Cross and the letters ‘RAAF’. Embroidered in silk thread below the wreath is a scroll with the words ‘PER.ARDUA.AD.ASTRA’.
This Royal Australian Air Force officer cadet's sports blazer was worn in the mid 1920s by John Alexander Hill Dillon. He later served as a warrant officer during the Second World War, enlisting on 21 August 1940 with the service number 18105. Dillon was discharged from Headquarters North Eastern Area on 27 November 1945.
