A striker pin is contained in the breech piece which is screwed to the mortar tube. The baseplate is of welded construction with a flat, dished top plate and three webbed ribs for firing support. The center of the baseplate has a socket to take the ball mount of the breech piece. A clamping ring is attached to the base plate to secure the barrel rigidly to the baseplate. There is a simple drum sight which is clamped to the top of the barrel. The mortar is painted olive drab. Markings - TUBE - E0321-551; BASEPLATE - 9103; TUBE CLAMP - 148; BREECH PLUG - 176-611.
