Studio portrait of 3773 Private (later Lance Corporal) Albert Alexander Howard, 12th Reinforcements, 14th Battalion, of Ballarat, Vic. A labourer prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 12th Reinforcements on HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 23 November 1915. He later transferred to the 12th Light Trench Mortar Battery. He was killed in action on 5 April 1918. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial, France.
